GPR Used to Map Concrete Deterioration and Rebar Depth and Spacing Multiple New York Parking Structures

Infrasense has provided nondestructive evaluation services to multiple parking structures in New York, including the Crowne Plaza Syracuse parking garage, the NY East End parking garage, and the NY Civic Center parking garage. At the Crowne Plaza garage, Infrasense carried out GPR testing to map the location and depth of steel reinforcing bars within a sample section of the garage deck to support the rehabilitation of the parking structure. At the East End garage, Infrasense used GPR to detect corrosion activity around the post-tension strands and areas of delamination. The result of the analysis was a condition plot showing areas of suspected corrosion and delamination for each tested section, and quantities of deterioration in tabular format. At the Civic Center garage, Infrasense surveyed 85% of the deck area to assess the slab and overlay condition, and to map the overlay thickness.
