“Infrasense is a great place to work. I like working in a small business where I can contribute in many different ways. Some examples are being responsible for client projects, writing proposals, business development, conferences, field work, programming of custom in-house software solutions, and several internal engineering projects, developing the next generation tools for the company. In addition, the work hours and location are flexible, the whole team has a ‘can do’ attitude to get things done alone or collaborative.”
— Ralf Birken, PH.D., Principal Engineer
Ralf has 20+ years of experience in applied electromagnetic geophysics, specializing in NDE and infrastructure health monitoring with GPR and other near-surface methods.
“Working at Infrasense, I maintain a great sense of pride in the diverse mix of projects I work on, whether from start to finish or as part of a larger team. We are a small company that relies on each team member to take on multiple projects and roles, which allows us to constantly improve our process. The best part is having the flexibility to be a PM one day, field lead the next, and then work on internal engineering projects. The team we’ve built constantly pushes the company’s limits and abilities, and it’s been inspiring to be part of it.”
— Keith Sorota, Principal Geophysicist
Keith Sorota has worked in remote sensing and NDT since 2007, using techniques like GPR, EM conductivity, seismic, and ultrasonic methods. He holds a degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences from UMass Lowell and has led a wide range of subsurface investigations. Keith has also shared his expertise as a guest speaker at UMass and Tufts.
“I work on a variety of projects—however, I primarily manage bridge deck condition mapping for Aerial Infrared Thermography. Since starting, I’ve been to 20 states and Toronto to collect data. My personal favorite was a site in Michigan where we surveyed a mile of a water runoff tunnel 100 feet underground! I like the environment of this small firm because it allows me to contribute to all aspects of a project, whether assisting on a proposal, collecting and analyzing data, or creating deliverables. It also allows me to excel as part of a team where everyone is friendly and eager to help.”
— Aidan Rolli, Staff Engineer
Aidan Rolli, a civil engineering graduate from UMass Lowell, has worked in the NDT field since 2022. He applies methods like GPR, IR, HRV imaging, and FWD on bridges and pavements, contributing both in the field and through data analysis and reporting.
“Working at Infrasense has been a great opportunity. As an Engineering Technician, I get the opportunity to travel and visit places that I have never thought of going to before. Joining a smaller work environment means you can take on more responsibility and become deeply involved in the company’s daily operations, which makes you feel more involved. Everyone at Infrasense is very friendly and easy to work with. The remote work office/home balance is flexible here at Infrasense and is a great place to work.”
— Peter Tham, Engineering Technician
Peter Tham joined Infrasense in 2023 as an Engineering Technician, supporting data collection, equipment maintenance, and project work. He holds an Associate degree in Computer Electronics from ITT Technical Institute.
