Many bridges in the U.S. are nearing the end of, or already exceeding, their design life. Due to this, agencies are increasingly looking for efficient ways to evaluate the condition and structural integrity of bridge substructure elements. To meet this demand, a comprehensive evaluation may be completed. This evaluation uses a suite of methods including ground penetrating radar (GPR), impact echo (IE), rebound hammer (RH), half-cell potential (HCP), and sounding. These evaluations result in quantities and CADD compatible maps of concrete deterioration, delamination, spalling, patching, rebar cover, rebar spacing, estimated concrete compressive strength.
