Rapid Automated Sounding: See (and Hear) How it Works
Rapid Automated Sounding (RAS) is our proprietary system that puts a modern spin on typical automated sounding for bridges. This system consists of two (2) rows of chain-wrapped tires, one behind and one in front of the trailer axel so data is collected at 1-foot lateral spacing. The chains drag and make impact as the system moves across a bridge deck, while corresponding microphones record the responses.
Watch this clip of the RAS system in action and see if you can hear the hollow spots at the locations identified as delaminations in the corresponding data!
If you have an upcoming project that would benefit from our RAS services, please visit our contact page or reach out to us at opps@infrasense.com.
