Rapid Automated Sounding (RAS) transforms the familiar and time-tested chain-drag method into a high-speed, automated solution for bridge deck delamination and debonding detection. By combining the reliability of traditional acoustic sounding with cutting-edge automation, RAS provides engineers with the familiar delamination and debonding maps trusted for decades with the added advantages of increased data density acquired  faster, and safer. Accuracy and consistency of results are increased by eliminating individual operator interpretation of the chain drag sounds.

The system works by continuously striking the deck surface using precision-controlled chains while sensitive microphones capture the acoustic signatures. Our proprietary algorithms analyze these sound patterns in real-time, instantly identifying the distinctive hollow sounds characteristic of delamination and debonding. What once required hours of manual testing and manual interpretation can now be completed in minutes at driving speeds up to 25 mph.
