Overview

Infrasense utilizes a broad suite of established nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Infrared Thermography (IR), Aerial Infrared Thermography, and Rapid Automated Sounding (RAS) to assess bridge deck conditions. The NDE data is referenced to the bridge deck surface using both a survey grid and high-precision, differential GPS coordinates to accurately identify and locate areas of concern.

By quantifying and mapping the areas of concern, the appropriate maintenance, preservation, and rehabilitation strategies can be identified for each bridge deck. In cases where rehabilitation is needed, the scope and work requirement for repairs can be accurately estimated prior to performing the work. This allows repair budgets to be used efficiently by focusing available funds on the bridge decks most in need of repair. Accurately  identifying compromised areas and percentage of the bridge for repair helps bridge owners avoid costly overruns.

The GPR and IR data is collected according to ASTM 6087 and ASTM 4788, using state-of-the-art technology.
