Infrasense recently evaluated the condition of 14 bridge decks at an International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Condition evaluations were carried out using a combination of Rapid Automated Sounding (RAS), infrared thermography (IR), and high-resolution video (HRV), all attached to a survey vehicle.

The RAS, IR, and HRV data were collected in all accessible locations within the project section. Using techniques like RAS and HRV in tandem allows for near-full coverage of these accessible areas, ensuring collection efforts are detailed and comprehensive. Following collection, the data was analyzed to identify and quantify rebar-level delamination, patching and spalling, and other signs of deterioration. Defects are quantified in a tabular summary and visually presented in finalized condition maps.
