GPR Survey to Map Bedrock in Northeastern MA

Infrasense engineers recently conducted a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey along a segment of road in northeastern Massachusetts in order to map bedrock topography. In this case, GPR proved to be an effective tool in mapping bedrock stratigraphy to approximately 25-feet maximum depth penetration. If you have an upcoming project where we can be of assistance,…

Subsurface Utility Mapping Across Massachusetts

The Infrasense SUE Team is hard at work on subsurface utility mapping projects across Massachusetts. Leveraging advanced tools like 3D ground penetrating radar (3DGPR), EMI utility tracers, and other geophysical methods, we continue to support our client’s projects with accurate and comprehensive utility maps. If you have an upcoming project where we can be of…

Ultrasonic Testing in Boston

Infrasense engineers performed ultrasonic testing along the parapets and spandrel walls of multiple bridges in the Boston area. The results of this testing will help to plan subsequent rehabilitation efforts. If you have an upcoming project where we can be of assistance, we’d be happy to hear from you. Utility Mapping Boston, MA

Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E.) requires working together to plan safe and efficient surveys, which often means overnight shifts to minimize interactions with traffic. In addition to traditional utility mapping tools, Infrasense can deploy vehicle-based ground penetrating radar as part of SUE projects to report other subsurface conditions including pavement layer thicknesses and moisture ingress/ voiding.

Concrete Structure Scanning in Western Massachussetts

Infrasense is out in Western Massachusetts recently completing a comprehensive evaluation of a bridge, including GPR, impact-echo, hammer sounding, and rebound hammer testing on all pier caps, columns, and abutments. The nondestructive testing data will be used to provide detailed maps and quantities of the substructure element conditions. If you have an upcoming project where…

Utilities Mapping Near Boston Tunnels

Infrasense recently completed a subsurface utility engineering (SUE) project in the vicinity of the four vent buildings that service the Sumner and Callahan Tunnels in Boston, MA. The project involved reviewing availability site drawings (QL-D), confirming the location of the site features (e.g., water valves, catch basins, manholes) (QL-C), and locating known and unknown utilities…
